At Nevada County Escapes we combine local knowledge and attention to detail with an emphasis on service and fun. We love where we live and we want to share this special place with you!

Chef Kady Guyton is a Midwest transplant who now lives in Grass Valley. Having lived and dined all over the US and parts of Europe, she has found the food and wine in Northern California worth staying around for. Kady has a Cordon Bleu certificate (cum laude) from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Kansas State University.

"My mother and grandmother were both chefs, and although Kansas isn’t exactly a hotbed of haute cuisine, the produce is generally excellent. Everyone in my family has very strong opinions about what’s on our plates. I started working for my mother in her restaurant when I was probably too young to be in a commercial kitchen and kept it up through college. I was lucky enough to work with a couple chefs who really loved wine and were willing to teach me about pairings and what to look for when picking wine to go with food."

One of her specialties is food and wine pairings featuring the wines of Nevada County. She is delighted to deliver a picnic or multi-course catered meal to wherever you wish to eat. Kady is also available for private cooking classes. Areas of expertise include: Cooking For Two, Intro to Italian Cuisine, Tapas Canapes and Small Bites, and Gourmet Brown Bag Lunch. Courses can also be created by request.
